Women's Feature Service
(WFS) offers custom-made dossiers to organisations, institutions policy makers
and individuals. The dossiers, which consist of abstracts of WFS
features and can be used for publication or for research purposes.
Since January 1988, all features have been abstracted in English and
put into the WFS database. Each abstract is classified by region
(Anglophone and Francophone Africa, Latin America, Central America,
South and South-East Asia, the Middle east and North Africa and the
Caribbean), as well as by country. The abstracts are compiled into
dossiers covering a variety of topics. These include rights,
environment, health, community organisations, migration, violence,
children, political participation, foreign debt and credit,
organisation, population. Dossiers can cover all regions, or only
selected ones.
The dossiers are ideally suited to projects or publications which
need a broad-based approach to a specific topic. For example, a
dossier on children would include abstracts on issues such as child
abuse, child labour and exploitation, nutrition, education, child
care, health care, maternal health and mortality, fertility rates.
Most dossiers contain between 10 and 50 abstracts, and the number of
abstracts determines the cost of the dossier. Entire features can be
retrieved for an extra charge.
